First of many...

As the title of this post implies, this is my first blog post. EVER. So forgive me if it is rough or boring or just plain bad. The second part of the title suggests that I will be updating this blog a lot more. That might not be true but only time will tell.

With that being said, I should probably explain why I am starting this blog.  Many of you know this (and that is why you are reading this blog), but for those of you who don't, here is the big news: I am going to KENYA this summer!!!! As in AFRICA!!! If you couldn't tell, I am super excited!! I am going with the Christian organization Africa Inland Mission (AIM) and will be gone May 31-August 1.

The interaction I have had thus far with AIM has been wonderful. They work in 22 countries across the continent, including Kenya.  Their "motto"/mission statement is "Christ-centered churches among all African peoples".  Their goals is to reach the unreached people and to establish churches among them.  I really like AIM's mission because it implies a sense of community development, helping the Christian nationals to become involved in their own communities.

While in Kenya, I will be helping out at a local primary school in the town of Kapsowar, which is on the western side of the country.  There is also a hospital in the town, where I will be volunteering as well.  In case you didn't know, I am a nursing major and would love to get some experience in an African hospital, even if it is just observation.

I think this is the actual town, however Google images are not always reliable

I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve the Lord and His beloved people in Kenya! I have always felt foreign missions on my heart, so I am thrilled to be going to Africa!

That is it for now. I will definitely be talking more about my passion for foreign missions that I believe God has placed in my life and just more info about the trip in general! I am looking forward to my adventures with God!
